Half Height Shower Doors

A half height shower door offers the containment of a full-height enclosure with none of the barrier. Waist-high panels stop water spreading into the room while leaving a carer free to reach in, assist with washing, and stay dry themselves. That combination has made half height doors a standard specification in healthcare adaptations, care homes, and any wetroom where an assisted showering environment is needed.

Every Impey half height shower door is engineered around real feedback from carers and end users. The full range includes bi-folding, sliding, and freestanding options with curved safety edging and anti-shatter panels as standard.

Choosing the right half height shower door for your project

The right half height shower door depends on the space available, the level of support the user needs, and whether the wetroom is being built from scratch or retrofitted into an existing space.

Bi-folding doors are the most compact option in the range. Both the Elevate Bi-Folding and FreeGlide Bi-Fold fold inwards to take up minimal floor space when open, making them the standard specification for smaller ensuite adaptations and tight wetroom footprints. Sliding doors, including the Elevate Sliding and FreeGlide Sliding, run along a top and bottom track and require no swing clearance at all, which suits ensuite corridors and wetrooms where every inch of floor space is spoken for.

The Freestanding Half-Height Shower Door works where a fixed wall or column isn’t available for a hinge or track. It sits within the shower area on its own base, providing containment without the need to fix into tiled or waterproofed walls, and comes into its own in listed buildings and short-stay adaptations where a permanent fixing isn’t practical.
