Shower Seats
A well-chosen shower seat can be the difference between a daily struggle and a confident, dignified routine. Whether you’re specifying for a Disabled Facilities Grant adaptation, a care home refurbishment or a private wetroom, the right seat depends on the user as much as the space.
Our shower seats range covers wall-mounted fold-down models, padded and unpadded options, the slimline SlimFold range for narrow showers, horseshoe seats for personal hygiene assistance, and freestanding shower chairs for users who prefer to bring the seat to them. Every model is tested for load capacity and built for the daily wear of healthcare and residential use.
How to choose the right shower seat
The right shower seat comes down to four practical questions: who is using it, how they transfer onto it, how much space the shower has, and how the seat needs to feel underneath them. For wheelchair users, a wall-mounted fold-down shower seat is usually the best fit. It clears the floor completely when not in use, leaves room for a side or front transfer, and can be specified at the exact height the user needs. Our padded fold-down options add comfort for longer showers and users with sensitive skin, while the Wide Padded Fold Down Shower Seat suits larger users or those who need a more stable seated base.
For tighter wetrooms and en-suites, the SlimFold range projects less than 100mm from the wall when folded, making it a regular specification in social housing adaptations where space is tight. The Horseshoe variant has a cut-out front for personal hygiene access, commonly requested by Occupational Therapists. If a wall fixing isn’t possible, the Freestanding Shower Chair offers the same seated security without any installation, useful for rented homes or short-term care needs.
